Bachelor’s Degree Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education (BEIL2) FKIP UNS has an alumni association as proven by Decree Number 14/SK/KAFKIP-UNS/P/2017. Alumni associations are always involved in academic and non-academic development activities of study programs. Partially, the Indonesian Language Education Study Program also involves alumni personally. Alumni participation is stated below.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

1. Donations

The alumni association contributes funds for academic activities such as increasing student competence, improving the quality of learning, and supporting student scientific activities. Donations in the form of cash through the head of the study program amounting to Rp. 5,500,000. The donation was conveyed in several alumni activities, including (1) fundraising for academic discussions, (2) gathering for alumni, and (3) BEIL2 fundraising.

2. Facility Donations

The alumni association made donations in the form of books that were used to support the teaching and learning process of Indonesian Language Education Study Program students. The books are inventoried through the HMP and managed through the study program reading room. Based on data from student associations, the contribution of alumni books to study programs has reached 121 copies.

3. Involvement in Activities

Alumni associations are actively involved regularly in curriculum review activities through the construction and evaluation of the curriculum. On the other hand, alumni provide professional and periodic training to education staff. Alumni representatives were also present in welcoming the freshmen to contribute knowledge and academic insights. Alumni provide academic insight through university best practices, training/ seminars on literary writing.

4. Networking Development

Alumni are used as a medium to distribute information to students regarding (1) the location of professional internships, (2) educational internships, and (3) job vacancies. Alumni also create WhatsApp groups with BEIL2 students to discuss the latest information regarding developments in education policy.

5. Provision of Facilities

The alumni association provides facilities in the form of access to educational internships and professional internships to improve student’s academic competence. The facilities provided in Educational Internships I, II, III are access facilities and permits for observations in schools and interviews with teachers and principals. Alumni also offer easy access for students to participate in developing themselves as broadcasters, journalists, and editors in professional institutions led by alumni.

NONACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

1. Donations

The alumni association provides cash funds to support non-academic activities such as competitions, student association seminars, disaster relief funds, and other student activities. The funds were given through the head of the student association (HIMPROBSI) with a total fund of Rp 7,500,000,00, which was delivered through social networks to raise funds for disaster and alumni meeting activities initiated by student associations.

Alumni representatives were also present in welcoming the freshmen to contribute knowledge and academic insights for students. In addition to providing academic insight through university best practices, alumni representatives are also invited to student activities to provide training/seminars on literary writing.

2. Facility Provision

The alumni association donated facilities, mostly used for HMP activities, such as activity backdrops, contest vandals, seminar certificates, seminar snacks, door price books, MMT, and information in open spaces to increase public enthusiasm for watching students directing productions.

To support the book grant activities for the Kepuhsari Village Library, Manyara in Wonogiri, the alumni association also contributed 250 copies of books. The donation is directly distributed to the Village Library, which is expected to increase literacy culture and eradicate illiteracy in remote villages.

3. Involvement in Activities

Alumni representatives always participate in revitalizing the language month celebrations by involving themselves as judges. They became juries for the selection of Duta Bastind, poetry, essay and short story writing competitions. In addition to being judges, the alumni band/music group also contributes to performances. Also, it entertains in the Language and Literature Week (PBS), which is held regularly every year. Alumni are also involved in organizing annual directing performances, including (1) disseminating information/performance pamphlets, (2) mobilizing student masses, and (3) making directing performances a learning resource for their students. BEIL2 Alumni are also always active in alumni activities who are members of the IKA UNS (Alumni Family Association), such as socialization, fundraising, and regular alumni network meetings.

4. Networking Development

Alumni and student associations are connected in the same network to increase the accessibility of information in the form of art competitions, sports, directing performances. The information is distributed from students to alumni, as well as from alumni to students. Based on network development, students get information about.

  1. Teacher Idol Competition: the announcement of this competition was obtained from the 2010 Indonesian Language Education alumni named Henry Trias Pugh. The competition was held by the institution where he worked, namely STKIP Al-Hikmah. The Indonesian Language Education alumni are Indonesian Language Education lecturers at STKIP Al-Hikmah.
  2. Selection of language ambassadors: the information regarding language ambassadors’ selection was obtained through the 2013 Indonesian Language Education alumni named Rosaliana Intan Pitaloka. Rosalina is the 2018 Central Java language ambassador, so that various information related to the selection of language ambassadors can be obtained easily through the network.
  3. Writing competitions: various information related to writing competitions can also be accessed through the network.

5. Provision of Facilities

Alumni provide facilities for students in non-academic activities, including a public space to develop a writing career: alumni who work in the mass media have access to student works to be published.
